Thrive is our new programme supporting artists with a community focussed practice.

Thrive supports 3 artists across a diverse range of art forms, to be mentored and deliver weekly, community focussed,  sessions at our arts centre in Leeds. We are excited by the opportunity to meet new creatives, expand our pool of community arts practitioners and encourage cross art collaboration.

Our first Thrive artists and their classes are:

Georige Holt: Introduction to Sustainable Photography Printing

Saba Siddiqui: Introduction to Lino Printing

Lauren Eagan: Introduction to Clay Sculpture & Mold Making

Thrive Exhibition

On Saturday 22nd March, we are delighted to be exhibiting work created during the first and second half-term of our Thrive Programme in Studio 2! This exhibition will be free to attend from 12:00pm-4:00pm.

Come and see the work from the winter/spring term Introduction to Lino Printing classes! The work from the first half term has been made by BIPOC and the designs reflect individual’s relationships to their cultural heritage. The group have engaged in meaningful conversations about their experiences, similarities and differences as well as educating each other on their own cultural knowledge. The prints reflect the wide diversity in the group and are a celebration of our identities. The second half term work features more new budding artists designs that reflect their personalities and individual interests. There's a huge variety of designs, colours and styles to see and be inspired from.

The work from the Intro to Sustainable Photography workshop will show a range of photographic printing techniques using caffenol, a developer made from coffee and household ingredients. It uses far fewer toxic chemicals than commercial developer, and has unique results depending on every batch of coffee used! The images are a mix of Georgie’s own photographs and those brought by the participants, creating an interesting blend of styles and results.
