Contemporary Dance

Ready to take your dance skills to the next level?

Adult Intermediate Contemporary Dance is for people looking to take a step up to improve their dance skills and are ready to take a deeper dive into contemporary dance and performance!

The first half of the class focuses on an active warm-up to prepare your body, followed by dynamic and physically engaging centre work inspired by Cunningham and release techniques.

These tools help dancers develop control, expand their range of movement, travel with efficiency and secure a safe practice. Through structured phrases and fluid choreography, the second half of class emphasises clarity, precision, and flow through structured phrases and fluid choreography. Dancers will explore spatial awareness, alignment, and stylised execution, fostering both technical growth and expressive freedom.

As well as refining our dance skills; we can develop our confidence, embrace the fun of dancing and meet new people.

Who's it with?

From Glasgow, Scotland, Euan (He/They) is a freelance dance artist based in Leeds. He trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, graduating his MA in August 2023. During his final year, Euan undertook a placement with National Dance Company Wales, later returning as a freelance guest artist. While with the company, he performed both nationally and internationally, collaborating with an array of leading choreographers from the UK and beyond.

At the early stages of his career, Euan is continuing to deepen and enrich his artistic practice. He enjoys using improvisation to search for new textures and ways to challenge his body. At present, he is at early stages of researching into costume design for dance, with an emphasis on inclusivity and sustainability. Also, as a neurodivergent person, he champions for individuality and aims to create welcoming spaces for all.
